The journey
A journey from the capital into the deep Sahara. Roman cities on the high plains give way to red sandstone canyons, painted rock and dunes that stretch to the horizon.
You begin in Algiers, travel east through the UNESCO Roman cities of Djemila and Timgad, then fly south into the Tadrart Rouge, one of the most beautiful corners of the entire Sahara.
Days in the desert move between rock arches, prehistoric art and dune fields, with nights in comfortable private camps under some of the darkest skies on earth.
How the journey unfolds
Algiers and the road east
Arrive in the capital, then travel to the high plains and the remarkably preserved Roman city of Djemila.
Timgad and the flight south
Walk the grid of Roman Timgad before flying south to Djanet, the gateway to the deep Sahara.
Into the Tadrart Rouge
Travel by 4×4 among red dunes, sandstone arches and ancient rock art, camping in the wilderness.
Dunes and farewell
A final sunrise over the dune fields before returning to Djanet and your flight back to Algiers.
